Popular singer and actress Hilary Duff is set to start recording her new album later this week or early next week, according to Hilary Duff Web.
Approximately six songs have already been written, according to the Web site. Eleven instrumentals have circulated from five different producers, as well.
Duff’s newest single, “Reach Out (And Touch Me),” will be released in August. Disputes over whether or not the song should be a promo track or the album’s first single caused delays on the song’s release. A video for the song should also be filmed in the next few weeks.
“Reach Out,” written by Kara DioGuardi and Duff herself, and is a slightly edgier song for popstar. It features a sample from the Depeche Mode song “Personal Jesus.”
The song was also produced by the talented Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic, who has produced major hits like Leona Lewis’ “Bleeding Love.” Tedder also produced his own band’s “Apologize.”
The new studio album will be Duff’s fourth and a follow-up to 2007’s Dignity.
Reuters and The Hollywood Reporter:
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Hilary Duff, who won raves for her role as an Asian superstar in the political satire “War, Inc.” has found a way to beat the heat, joining the cast of the new comedy “Stay Cool.”
Duff co-stars in “Cool” with Winona Ryder, Sean Astin, Chevy Chase and Jon Cryer. The project comes from filmmakers Mark and Michael Polish, and begins shooting next month.
It is described as a “knowing-your-age comedy,” centering on a successful author (Mark Polish) who is forced to confront an unrequited high school crush (Ryder) when he returns home to deliver a commencement address to graduating seniors.
Duff will portray a sexy high school senior [named Shasta O’Neil] who flirts with the visiting author and invites him to the prom.
The actress has been slowly moving beyond the tween audience that powered her to stardom with the Disney TV series “Lizzie McGuire” and a succession of chart-topping albums. She will be back in the studio to work on her fifth album this summer.
Also, huge thanks to Katy from hilicious.co.uk for updating the site while i was gone. Thank you so much!

Duff, who broke through by becoming a tween superstar via her Disney TV series “Lizzie McGuire,” has been slowly moving beyond that audience. She can be seen in the political satire “War, Inc.” opposite John Cusack and has films “Safety Glass” and “Greta” in the can. Duff will be back in the studio to work on her fifth album this summer.
She is repped by WMA and Curtis Talent Management.
As some of you may know, “Reach Outs” music video will premiere soon. Hilary is currently attending meetings to come up with concepts for the video of “Reach Out”. She will start filming it shortly after. Hilary told us this in her last blog! The track has been produced by Ryan Tedder (lead singer of band “OneRepublic”). Joe Bermudez’s remix will be available sometime between July 4th & 11th. There’s a possibility of the full song, or a clip, being released earlier via Joe’s myspace. The promos for the single have been reworked with the rapper version being the lead single. Promos will be sent to radios in July.
iTunes release happend in August.
I cant wait to see it! ! Thanks to HilFan72 @ hilaryfan.com for some of the information!

Ok, I’ve made fun of more than a few of her movies. Not all of them, mind you. But a few.
Enough to where last Friday’s Chat with Ms. Hilary Duff about a charity she’s involved with could have been my idea of pure, um, Heck.
Or payback, her fans might say (”Take THAT mean old movie reviewer! See how nice she is? See? SEEEEEEE?”)
But it wasn’t. She seemed smart, informed and sincere. She didn’t shill for anything that might personally profit her out of this cause, Blessings in a Backpack. And it seems to be a righteous cause at that—stuffing a backpack full of food on Friday afternoons so poor kids and their families have enough to eat over the weekend.
It’s results oriented, and altruistic. Something for everybody. Check her out. Don’t make fun of the shakey-cam. I saw The Strangers this AM, and I’m just as steady as their Hollywood Steadicam dude, I swear. (an ace Sentinel photographer shot the non-interview stuff, in the school).
